Rory O’Connor, a kayak fisherman from Bellingham, WA, must have thought he was being ‘punk’d', had entered the ‘twilight zone’ or was hallucinating when a dog swam up to his kayak while he was fishing a mile off shore. Rory, who is obviously a very capable outdoorsman and angler, is also a dog lover. After spotting the frantic dog swimming in open water a mile off shore he managed to call the dog over to his kayak (an exceptionally well appointed kayak) and scooped him out of the water, giving the terrified pup a reprieve from what would later be learned to be a tremendously bad day.

What a heartwarming, yet sad, story. That dog is a survivor and the kayak fisherman is a real life hero. He didn’t have to stop and help the dog but he obviously loves animals.
Great story! Thanks for posting it.
